Our Mission

Pregnancy can be the start of an incredible journey. But for many women, it's not. That's why we're here! Matriarch Mental Health provides perinatal mental health care that is specialized, individualized, comprehensive, and convenient. We aim to translate clinical excellence into meaningful treatment for you and your family. | About Our Specialized Perinatal Care | The perinatal period ranges from pre-pregnancy planning through delivery and the first two years postpartum. The perinatal transition also includes potential hardships like fertility treatment, pregnancy loss, neonatal death, and traumatic birth. Matriarch provides specialized mental health care for your entire reproductive journey. Some of the common mental health concerns during the perinatal period include postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, including panic, grief, guilt, shame, suicidal thoughts, insomnia, marital strain, feeling disconnected from your baby, and difficulties with daily functioning. These mental health disturbances have become very common. Up to 20% of women and 10% of men will experience postpartum depression or postpartum anxiety within the first year of delivery. That often sounds like "I just can't keep up", "I want to get back to feeling like myself", "Nobody understands" or "It wasn't supposed to be like this!" You are not alone. Support is available. Being a parent is difficult even under ideal circumstances. These days, though, the perinatal transition for women and non-birthing partners is more stressful than ever. Let's face it: improving mental health while juggling many priorities seems daunting, if not impossible. That's why Matriarch makes mental health a convenient, fully integrated online experience for perinatal women and couples. We've got you covered with telehealth sessions and available appointments on Sundays and weekday evenings. | Comprehensive Mental Health Support | At Matriarch, psychotherapy is your entry point to comprehensive perinatal care that incorporates your physical, social, and spiritual wellbeing, as well as your psychological, emotional, and behavioral health. A collaborative, multidisciplinary approach allows you to receive the tailored mental health treatment you deserve by offering to integrate feedback from members of your family and care team into therapy. We work with dieticians, lactationists, parenting experts, medication prescribers, and more to address the factors contributing to your mental health; therapy is where it all comes together for you. | Therapy Approach | In addition to supportive therapy and practical strategies for navigating common perinatal transitions—including pregnancy, postpartum, fertility treatment, miscarriage, stillbirth, traumatic birth—we work with you to craft MindMaps and interactive progress plans that offer visual touchstones to encourage positive change between sessions and long-term. | Just for You | Whether you are a working mother, single mom, large-family matriarch, first-timer, or still trying to conceive, your perinatal experience is unique—and now, your therapy experience will be as well. Each mother is unique; each pregnancy is unique—that's our approach. From first contact to first session and annual check-ups—our services at Matriarch Mental Health are traced with a single purpose: rallying around your unique values, needs, aspirations, and life circumstances.
